The Build With AI (BWAI) Workshop, powered by Google Developers Group and delivered by Unstacked Labs, successfully ran for 8 weeks across six Kenyan towns: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nyeri, and Nakuru.

    Google Genkit

    Build AI-powered applications with server-side AI flows, model orchestration, and RAG implementations.

    Google Vertex AI

    Train, tune, and deploy ML models at scale, manage endpoints, and productionize ML workflows.

    Agent Development Kit (ADK)

    Build agentic systems, orchestrate multi-step workflows, and create reliable, observable AI agents.

    Program Structure

    The program ran in two major phases:

    Phase 1: Weeks 1-6 - Learning Phase

  • Hands-on sessions on Google Genkit, ADK, and Vertex AI
  • Completion of codelabs and practical exercises
  • Creation of Google Developer Profiles & earning badges
  • Town-based meetups (virtual + physical) for mentorship and progress check-in
  • Capture the Flag Challenge
  • Phase 2: Weeks 7-8 - Capstone Project Phase

    Learners designed and built real-world AI solutions following official Capstone guidelines. Projects aligned with Africa's most pressing digital innovation needs—AgriTech, HealthTech, FinTech, Education, Climate Change Adaptation, and Infrastructure Development.

    Format

  • Hybrid Learning: Live online + in-person workshops
  • Weekly Virtual Sessions: 4 days per week at 6PM EAT
  • In-Person Office Hours: Strategic meetups across all 6 towns
  • Self-Paced Learning: Codelabs, assignments, and project work
